MYSORE
Mysore leaves travellers mystified for its rich heritage that ranges from 200 magnificent palaces, Mysore silk, art to authentic cuisine like Mysore Pak. Our first stop is Amba Vilas Palace that is located right in the centre of the city, which was home to the royal family of Mysore. The palace speaks of fine illustrated Indo-Saracenic architecture and a mix of Indian, Indo-Islamic, Neo-Classical and Gothic revival styles. The palace has been turned into a museum where history buffs can have a close look at the prized possessions from the past. Then we take a walk through the busy unique heritage Devraj market that exists since the time of Tipu Sultan. Here you find Mysore vegetables, fruits, jaggery, onions and potatoes, puffed rice and coconut and a closer look at the daily life of the people.
