Hippocrates once said,  “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” and we are sure that you will find your soul food. Welcome to the journey of ‘India on a Plate’ where history meets food. Our representative will meet you at the airport and help you with immigration and exit from the Delhi Airport so that you can take the day at leisure. Rest good because tomorrow we begin the tour to India – land of many cultures and cuisine.

DELHI
Delhi is a land of many cultures, and the food has always remained the inescapable part of its people’s lives. From Nadir Shah to Shah Jahan, Parsis, Turks and the Afghans, everybody got its value share of taste, spices and recipes to the historic capital’s streets. Street food and streets of Delhi are a magnet to people visiting from all over the world. It is the right amount of spicy, tangy, greasy and tasty. Today, in the morning we will explore the old narrow lanes of Old Delhi that still carry the sweet scent of its food and culture. We visit Humayun Tomb, a well preserved Mughal heritage that inspired the construction of Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, the tallest minaret in India; drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan, which is the President’s House and finally in the evening enjoy an evening of Delhi life at India Gate, a war memorial to 82000 soldiers of the army who died in the period 1914-21 during the First World War

DELHI
We will cycle around the old lanes of Chandni Chowk and have breakfast at Karim’s, which is “arguably the city’s most famous culinary destination” since 1931. You will be interacting with the cooking expert to know the nitty gritty’s attached in the preparation of the Mughlai cuisine served here. For example, Firdausi Korma, a variation of Rogan Josh is one of the most sensory overloading dishes that is very popular here. Visit Jama Masjid, the biggest mosque in India is a liberating experience in itself. We will then walk around the corridors of the residence of the Mughal Dynasty – Red Fort and explore the Mughal riches in the many museums here. Pay your tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.

DELHI – AGRA
Mughlai cuisine prepared with scrumptious sauces of milk, curd, cream and crushed nuts dominate Agra’s culinary scene. The tour started with the close view of the world famous Taj Mahal and then lunch at ITC’s Peshawar restaurant known for its preparation of Dal Bukhara and Sikandri Raan – wonders of the Mughlai cuisine. After a hearty interaction over the food we will explore the then capital of Mughal Dynasty before it moved to Delhi – Agra Fort, which stands as a tall powerful red fortress glorifying the beauty of grand palaces & forts in India.

AGRA – JAIPUR
Experiencing Taj Mahal by the first light of the sun is an experience of a lifetime. While on one hand, the dome of the monument shimmers in golden colour, on the other, there are fewer tourists so you can have the best time alone around the edifice of love. What better start to the day than this! Enroute Jaipur by car, we will visit Fatehpur Sikri, a red sandstone city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar that served as the capital between 572 and 1585. You have a giant 17th-century gate called the Buland Darwaza that takes you to Jama Mosque – a 1570s mosque, 16th-century tomb of a Sufi saint and Jodha Bai Palace that overlooks the entire city.

JAIPUR
Welcome to Jaipur’s morning. We will begin our tour with Amer Fort perched on top of Cheel ka Teela, also called Hill of Eagles is the sprawling complex that combines grandeur and charm that dates back to 16th Century. From chambers of the thousand mirrors to the sculpture of Lord Ganesh carved out of a single coral, the monument stands as a testimony to the riches of culture, arts and architecture of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber. Now imagine savouring a sugary-sweet mithai in the middle of the day? Heard of hot Ghevar, Chhena Malpua, Balushahi and what not! We take a sweet detour to the snacks & sweets in Rajasthan. Then lunch at Lakshmi Mishtan Bhandar known for its Gehar and other delicacies Jaipur & beyond.

JAIPUR
Get charged today because we are going to explore the Havelis and temples within the streets of the walled city. View the city from Hawa Mahal just like the queens did in the bygone era. Witness the world’s largest stone sundial at Jantar Mantar that was completed in the year 1734. Walk through the courtyards and inner chambers of the City Palace, the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Learn about the spices and local vegetables of Rajasthan from the cooking experts that will be walking you down through the busy lanes of the spice market of Jaipur. Later in the evening, we dine with a wonderful local family learning the traditional art of cooking in Rajasthan.

JAIPUR – HYDERABAD
Welcome to the Pearl City of India and today we will explore the heart of the city situated on the eastern banks of Musi River, Charminar. The monument is perfectly squared at 20m with four towers and four arches that open in four different streets. On the west side of the monument is Lead Bazaar, the historic market Hyderabad known for its lac bangles. Close by is Makkah Masjid which is another biggest mosque in India and it is believed that the stones used in the construction of this mosque were brought from Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Started in 1616 CE, its construction was completed in 1694 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

HYDERABAD
Start your day with a trip to one of the three National Museums in India and the biggest in the world – Salarjung Museum. The museum houses one million collections of paintings, sculptures, carvings, manuscripts and artefacts, and all this is because of the sheer passion of one man  Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan. Next is the main highlights of the tour – a traditional-style cooking demonstration that includes all Hyderabadi quintessential dishes, from Kebabs, biryani to sweet dishes. We will visit Begum Khan’s ancestral home in Begumpet. She is a living repository of specialities, that dates back to the rule of the Qutb Shahis.

HYDERABAD – MUMBAI
This is your first day in Mumbai and we recommend that you take it slow. The city is a bit chaotic but brimming with life and energy. When it comes to street food, Mumbai is the most diverse that serves a massive population of people. From Vada Pav to Bhel Puri, Sanju Baba Chicken to Irani Chai, Carter Road to Zaveri Bazar, each Khau Gali has something special and delectable to offer. We will savour all the Muslim, Gujarati, South Indian, Parsi, & Maharashtra influences in the street food of Mumbai.

MUMBAI
Start your tour with Gateway of India, the arch-shaped giant monument built in 1911 to welcome King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder Waterfront, overlooks the Arabian Sea and also called as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai. Immerse yourself in admiration of the 2000 rare art pieces, rare archaeological artefacts that date back to the ‘Indus Valley’ civilization, remnants of Maurya and Gupta dynasty, Indian arms and armours and Natural History museum section at Price Wales Museum, now called ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya’. For Gandhi admirers, visit the museum and building dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi which served as his Mumbai headquarters. Last would be a visit to one of the small actively used Jain temple that is renown for its architecture, sculptures and paintings. Feel at peace as well as in awe of how vivid each and every state is. Later, we have arranged a special surprise dinner for you!
